"Sandie" Pendleton letter to "My Dear Miss Mary [manuscript], 1862 October 19.

Pendleton writes to a friend in Charlottesville (possibly Mary Lancelot Minor), pretending he is chatting while escorting her to church. He describes an escape from a romanatic entanglement with Laura Burwell of Winchester and the less good fortune of another staff officer, Randolph H. McKim, reminisces about the University of Virginia and good times there, sends greetings from Hunter McGuire, inquires about acquaintances, reports excitement at the victory of Bragg over Buell in Kentucky, notes the army's work in destroying the Baltimore and Ohio and closes noting that "Jim" [Lewis] has brought a plate of apples.
